Cooling
Filament Extrusion Cooling System
The cooling section brings the extruded strand from melt temperature to a dimensionally stable state before measurement and traction. Rongcai lines use a hot-water stage followed by a cold-water stage.
Short answer
Cooling sets the strand before it is measured and pulled. A hot-water stage followed by a cold-water stage removes heat progressively, so the filament reaches a stable dimension instead of being quenched unevenly. Cooling capacity has to match the line speed, otherwise diameter will drift as output rises.

Control factors
Control factors to watch
- Cooling water temperature in each stage
- Cooling length against line speed
- Strand guidance through the tanks
- Consistency of the extrusion output feeding the section
FAQ
Technical questions
Why does cooling affect diameter?
The strand has to reach a stable dimension before it is measured and pulled. If cooling is uneven or too short for the running speed, the strand continues to change after the gauge has read it.
Which cooling parameters should be monitored?
Water temperature in each stage, cooling length relative to the running speed and the condition of the strand guides through the tanks.
