Diameter control
3D Printing Filament Diameter Control
Diameter control is the loop that keeps the filament at the specified diameter during production. On a Rongcai line, a dual-axis laser gauge reads the strand in line at ±0.001 mm and reports it continuously, so correction happens while the run continues.
Short answer
Filament diameter is measured in line by a dual-axis laser gauge. The reading is compared with the target and corrected through the process variables: extrusion temperature, screw speed, cooling conditions and traction speed. Measuring during production means drift is visible before it reaches the spool.

FAQ
Technical questions
What causes diameter variation?
Variation usually comes from an unstable extrusion output, uneven cooling, or a change in take-off tension. Because the gauge reads in line, the operator can identify which of these moved while production continues.
What tolerance is published?
The documented configuration holds 1.75 mm ±0.03 mm with a measurement accuracy of ±0.001 mm. Tolerance for a specific project is confirmed together with the material and output target.
