Information a Filament Extrusion Line Quotation Needs
A quotation can only be as specific as the request behind it. This guide lists the nine items that remove supplier assumptions, explains which ones move the configuration most, and shows what spool photographs and site details are worth sending.

A quotation can only be as specific as the request behind it. Sending one short message with the nine items below usually replaces several rounds of questions, because each item removes one assumption the supplier would otherwise have to make about your plant.
The nine items a filament line quotation needs
| Item | Why it changes the configuration |
|---|---|
| Material or material list | Sets barrel temperature zones and cooling conditions |
| Filament diameter and tolerance | Sets the measurement range and the precision required of the traction and control system |
| Target output per shift or per hour | Sets line speed and the size of the extruder |
| Working hours per day | Determines how much automation is worth paying for |
| Automation requirement | Decides whether winding, material feed and quality checks are automatic or manual |
| Spool core diameter, width and maximum outside diameter | The winding section is built around these physical dimensions |
| Filament end fixing method | Tape fixing or threading hole fixing, per the spool you buy |
| Destination country and site power supply | Determines voltage, frequency and the packing that shipping requires |
| Expected timeline | Determines whether the delivery schedule has to be built around a fixed start date |
How each item maps to the configuration
On Rongcai's current lines each item corresponds to a documented design decision, so you can see in advance what your answer will change:
| Item you send | What it decides on the line |
|---|---|
| Material list | Barrel temperature zones (six independent PID zones at ±3 °C) and the hot/cold bath settings |
| Diameter and tolerance | The dual-axis laser gauge (±0.001 mm) and servo traction precision; the current lines are configured for φ1.75 mm at ±0.03 mm |
| Target output | Which line class fits: the RC-45 covers up to 25 kg/h, the RC-50 up to 37 kg/h, both adjustable |
| End fixing method | Tape-fixing or threading-hole winding configuration; the RC-45 is available in both, the RC-50 in tape fixing |
| Spool specification | Core φ52–58 mm, wound OD up to φ200 mm, about 1 kg per spool; threading-hole spools additionally need through holes at least 3 mm wide with 35 mm or more spacing |
The full documented specification of each configuration is on the RC-50 high-speed filament extrusion line and RC-45 standard-speed filament extrusion line product pages.
Send these even if the answer is a range
A range is more useful than nothing. If the output you need is still being decided, state the range you are considering, because it tells the supplier whether the extruder size sits at one end or the other. The same applies to the diameter: if you plan to add a second diameter later, say so now.
What photographs and files help
- A photo of the spool you currently buy, showing the core and the filament fixing, removes most winding questions in one step.
- A drawing or datasheet of the spool core if you have one.
- A photograph of the site or the available floor space, if the layout is tight.
- If you already run a line, its current speed and the problems you want to solve.
Check quotations on the same basis
Once answers come back, compare them on the same measurement basis before comparing prices. The guide on how to choose a filament extrusion line lists the checks that keep quotations comparable: the output basis, the tolerance definition, the measurement accuracy behind it, whether the quoted speed is a rating or an operating speed, and what is actually included in the scope of supply. The filament extrusion line comparison page shows how the two current configurations are set out side by side.
Frequently asked questions
What happens after the request is received?
The requirement is reviewed against the material, diameter, output and spool items, and the configuration that fits is confirmed with you before a quotation is issued. Where an item is unclear, the question comes back before the quotation rather than after it.
Can a quotation be issued without the spool specification?
It can be issued for the extrusion section, but the winding section cannot be finalised without the spool core diameter, width and fixing method. Supplying them upfront avoids a second revision.
Is a site visit needed?
Not in order to prepare a quotation. Layout and installation questions are usually settled from photographs and the floor space available, and are confirmed during the project review stage.
